They have been there for us.
We need to be there for them.
When a family must face the tough choice of whether or not to put a loved one into a nursing home, the family deserves the peace of mind of believing that the promises of the nursing home to take care of mom and dad are true.

Sometimes, when visiting a nursing home, a family member may notice signs that may mean there has been a deterioration in care. The nursing home may not be answering a call light quickly enough. The nursing home may not be keeping a resident clean. The nursing home may be letting a resident stay in the same position in bed for too long resulting in skin ulcers. Few people are as helpless as those confined to live in a licensed nursing home facility.

What can seem like minor lapses of care can be indications of something far more serious: understaffing or that the nursing home management has not trained the nurses and staff to plan and care for each resident professionally and adequately.

If the nursing home does not have adequate staff, the residents will suffer:

  • Bed Sores and Pressure Ulcers
  • Preventable Falls
  • Malnutrition
  • Dehydration
  • Resident-on-Resident Abuse
  • Burns and Scalding Injuries
  • Dropped Residents During Transfers
  • PEG Tube and Catheter Care Neglect
  • Lack of Pain Management
  • Medication Error
  • Inadequate Hygiene
  • Choking
  • Sexual Abuse
